Black and Gold

When in doubt, go for black and some bling!

I wasn't a big fan of gold until recently, but now that I've crossed over, I'm in love! I'm quite the fan of gold bling, as long as it is subtle.

The sweater has some gold in the knit itself, adding some shine to your outfit, suitable even for something casual.

The shoes were my favourite part :)

Accessorize it!

Black and white is a classic combination, and is one that I turn to quite often ( especially when I have absolutely no inclination to spend time and energy deciding what to wear)

Since I wear this combination a lot (see here), I try to break the monotony with accessories. I've always felt that some accessories are a must in any wardrobe since they can transform any outfit.

Here I'm wearing a standard white shirt and black pants- but the addition of some nude accessories took it up a notch.

These wedges are super high and (not surprisingly) super comfortable.  And the best part is that they were a gift from a friend :)

The shoes and bag made the look just about good enough for a mid week dinner :)

All Black and Pink

When I'm feeling a bit lazy, I always find it easy to go with an all-black outfit and add one or two statement pieces to complete it.

Last Saturday I was probably at my laziest and wanted something comfortable yet stylish.

So I went with a a black top, my favourite pair of black shorts, and a light pink jacket.

Black top- Zara ; Black Shorts- G2000
The jacket is a favourite from Promod. The transparent sequins add a little bit of shine without being over the top.

My accessories were also all black.

Necklace- Forever 21

A simple, plain black clutch is a wardrobe essential. You can find similar ones here from Accessorize, Guess and Aldo

Bow Heels- Forever New

These bow heels from Forever New have a lot of support, so it is relatively easier to last all night in these than any other four inch heels.

Leave a comment if you like the outfit :)

Gowri Puja

Happy Ganesha Charturthi everyone!

Gowri Puja, which was yesterday ( to know more about the festival, read here ) is usually a big deal in my house, and has been for decades!

I love all the rituals associates with the festival- decorating coconuts, cleaning the house, and of course cooking and eating lots of good food.

For Gowri Puja this year I wanted to wear something Indian but felt like mixing it up a little.

I went with a cotton skirt, a plain black tee and a dupatta.

The skirt is by Bangalore based designers Mona and Neelam.

The dupatta is my mother's and is from Westside.

I matched this with a pair of silver jhumkas which I received as a gift from my family on my 20th birthday

I kept the accessories simple with a watch and an assortment of  bangles from Goa and Commercial street.

Best of Lakme Fashion Week

Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive was all of last week, and was a showcase of some exquisite art.

Here is what I thought was the best of fashion week.

Also, all images are property of Lakme Fashion Week, I do not own any of these images.

Enjoy :)

And finally, after a long hiatus from Lakme Fashion Week, Sabyasachi returned with a royal bang!
His collection, inspired by regality, was the Grande Finale at the extravaganza.

This velvet and sequined saree is probably my favourite from all the designs at Lakme Fashion Week.
